The regulatory database has unveiled the battery capacities of all four models in the iPhone 15 series.

Do you recall the days when iPhone users were mockingly referred to as “Wallhuggers,” constantly on the lookout for a power outlet to charge their devices? Samsung even ran a humorous commercial centered around this notion. However, since the introduction of the iPhone 11 series, Apple has equipped its iPhones with significantly larger batteries, often outlasting their competitors in battery life tests. While Apple typically states that their latest iPhone models offer “all-day” battery life, MySmartPrice has discovered detailed battery capacity and wattage information for all four models of the iPhone 15 series in a Chinese regulatory database.

According to this database, the four iPhone 15 models, released in 2023, are equipped with batteries ranging in size from 3,349mAh to 4,422mAh. Last year, the iPhone 14 Plus narrowly claimed the title of having the largest battery in iPhone history, surpassing the iPhone 14 Pro Max. However, this year, that distinction goes to the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

For those intrigued by these revelations, here are the specific battery capacity and wattage figures for the iPhone 15 series:

  • iPhone 15: 3,349mAh, 12.981Wh, a 2.1% increase compared to the iPhone 14.
  • iPhone 15 Plus: 4,383mAh, 16.950Wh, a 1.3% increase compared to the iPhone 14 Plus.
  • iPhone 15 Pro: 3,274mAh, 12.70Wh, a 2.3% increase compared to the iPhone 14 Pro.
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max: 4,422mAh, 17.109Wh, a 2.3% increase compared to the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Apple claims that the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus can provide up to 20 and 25 hours of video playback, respectively. As for the Pro models, the iPhone 15 Pro can handle 23 hours of video playback, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max boasts an impressive 29 hours without needing a recharge. These estimates are available on Apple’s official website. Additionally, Apple recommends using a 20W charger for all four models, which also support MagSafe wireless charging at up to 15W and Qi wireless charging at 7.5W.

It’s worth noting that the new iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models are expected to deliver improved battery life thanks to the advanced 3nm A17 Pro chip. Apple’s partnership with TSMC ensures that these two 2023 Pro models will likely be the only smartphones this year powered by a 3nm SoC. The A17 Pro chip boasts an impressive 19 billion transistors, a 19% increase from the A16 Bionic chip’s 16 billion. Generally, a higher transistor count in a chip translates to greater power and energy efficiency.

Pre-orders for the iPhone 15 series have commenced today, with the official release scheduled for one week from now, next Friday, September 22nd.
